Tackling Classroom Aggression in Alberta: A New Action Team

Alberta is taking a big step to make its classrooms safer and more supportive! With increasing incidents of aggression and diverse student needs, the Alberta government has announced the formation of the Aggression and Complexity in Schools Action Team. This special action team aims to tackle the challenges teachers and students face every day.

Comprised of 20 education leaders from various school boards and associations, the team will gather insights from teachers, support staff, and advocacy groups to develop recommendations for both immediate and long-term actions. Everyone involved shares one clear goal: to ensure that every student and staff member feels safe, respected, and supported in their learning environment.

The team is set to deliver its recommendations by fall 2025, with some actions rolling out as early as the 2025-26 school year. This collaborative effort demonstrates a strong commitment to the well-being of our classrooms and to continuous improvement in Alberta's education system.
