Read moreExciting news for Canadians wanting to sponsor their parents and grandparents for permanent residency! The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has updated the minimum income requirements for 2025. If you're a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, you’ll need to demonstrate an income of at least $47,549 in 2024 to qualify.
This marks a $3,000 increase from the previous year, so it's a good idea to plan ahead!
To be eligible, sponsors must meet the income requirement for the three years leading up to the application date. For 2025, this means your income from 2024, 2023, and 2022.
Wondering how much you'll need? Here's a quick glance:
You can meet these requirements individually or combine incomes with a co-signing spouse or common-law partner.
When calculating your family size, make sure to include everyone you have financial responsibility for, such as your spouse, children, and anyone you have sponsored in the past.
The PGP offers a fantastic opportunity for family reunification! Invitations to apply will start going out on July 28, 2025, with a total of 17,860 invitations being sent.
If you haven't applied yet, consider the super visa program, which allows your parents or grandparents to visit Canada for up to 10 years. You’ll just need to meet certain financial and health insurance requirements.
Don't miss the chance to bring your loved ones closer. Get ready!
