This season, the Ministry of Environment is reaching out to all hunters in the boreal transition zone and along our eastern border. They're asking you to submit your animal heads for chronic wasting disease (CWD) and bovine tuberculosis (TB) testing. Why? Because your contributions are essential!
Last year, over 2,000 hunters stepped up to the challenge, showing just how dedicated we are to protecting our wildlife. Environment Minister Travis Keisig highlighted the importance of this effort, thanking all who participated. So, can you imagine being part of this vital mission? Here’s how you can help:
- Submit your game head within one month of your harvest, or no later than January 21, 2026.
- Register online at cwdsk.ca to get a unique tracking number.
- Drop off your game head at any designated testing location.
Even better: Testing is free! Plus, if you’re in a bovine TB zone, you can visit sampling stations if you want to keep your head for a Euro mount.
Let’s be clear: CWD is a serious neurological disease. It affects deer, moose, and elk, which can lead to fatal outcomes for these beautiful creatures. While the disease doesn't have known cases in humans and poses a low transmission risk, it’s crucial to keep our hunting practices safe.
